This question illustrates the importance of the Liberty of Conscience Petition. Many people do not realize the significance of the 1980 alterations to our Fundamental Beliefs, or the impact those changes have had upon the lives of our members. (For a glimpse of how some have been affected, read “The Anderson Case” article on this website.) Unfortunately, questions such as the one raised by this delegate are often brushed off. But we’d like to see some answers. That’s why we’ve sponsored this initiative designed to encourage transparency in our leaders and consistency between our theoretical acknowledgment of the Sola Scriptura principle and our actual practice.
